More Progress on Line Following
1Today we learned a lot about the light sensor during the robotics session. We were working on the line following but it’s not working yet. We have to make a few tweaks to the program because the structure wasn’t giving us the results we were looking for. All Yotty would do is spin in circles when we put him on the table. Also we think we would benefit from the light sensor being calibrated more accurately.
Next week we’ll get back on the line following and probably finish it.
Adding a sensor
4I’m the newest member of the Yattabyte cyclops, Joel. At today’s meeting we were working on the line follower, again. We realized that Yotty was losing track of the line, so we added another sensor. If both of the sensors see white, Yotty keeps going straight. If one sees black, Yotty will go in that direction.
The Postseason (Yotty 2.0, our adventures in line-following, and Senior Solutions)
0Our adventure in Districts over, ranking 17 out of 24, we returned to our regular meetings in the Postseason. We have destroyed Yotty 1.0 and assembled it into Yotty 2.0. The new model of Yotty features a caster wheel, and NXT mount using the contamination risk from Food Factor as our base and interlocked motors with a light sensor and an ultrasonic sensor attached. This past few weeks we have been tinkering with line-following. We have made Yotty 2.0 able to follow a line very fluently. Our only problem is that Yotty is not able to turn right when following a line. With a new season comes a new topic, and that is Senior Solutions. So far we only have a logo but the more comical of our members are sure that we will walk an old lady across the street. Others have thought that we will have to help seniors in other ways like delivering food and supplies or calling medical attention for them. Another thing we have been contemplating is whether we will have new team members or not. We have decided to add new members, and on April 15 our friend, Joel, will become the newest Yottabyte Cyclops member! Please share your ideas about the new season on Facebook and Twitter pages and we will get back to you as soon as we can.
